This guitar was completed for Chris just before Christmas 1983. It is the third Jackson neck-thru Star ever built and is the first with a graphic. Chris ordered it through Joanne Jackson in 1983. I've been told Chris put more red paint on the guitar himself while visiting the Jackson factory. Notice the rare freehand logo that sometimes is found on early serial Jacksons.![]() ![]() ![]() This Star was used sparingly on tour and so it remained in good condition. It was mostly seen during the very first W.A.S.P. tour and rarely appeared on later live performances. The guitar rested at Chrises moms house from 1989 onwards. It was sold to a well known Jackson/Charvel collector (Alz) after being up on Ebay in 2002. Alz also has copies of the original factory documentation including the work order and has helped providing information for this page. ![]() ![]() The body is made of alder and the pickup is a Duncan Distortion, and this guitar also has the small round electronics cavity. Like the yellow star, the bridge on this guitar is an Ibanez Gibraltar. None of Chris' Jackson Stars had inlays, and there has never been a truss rod cover on the guitar - another cool Holmes spec! On the very first photos of the guitar it had chrome tuners which apparently were just on for that shoot and were changed to black Gotoh SG36 tuners afterwards. ![]() ![]() ![]() Photographers can always count on Chris to delivery some funky live poses! ![]() ![]() This pic makes me think that maybe the finish was actually ketchup instead of blood... ![]()
